一年多前，恰逢太平盛世，村中姚氏兄弟姐妹齐心协力，搜峰峦之大木，集能工与巧匠，施生花之妙笔，遂修辑宏伟之祠堂；金壁生辉，裔孙荣昌；男添百福，女纳千祥。为景智增光。实乃可喜可贺可歌之事。今天良辰吉日，与祖国同庆，庆祝姚氏宗祠重光庆典。各地的姚族兄弟姐妹们在此欢聚一堂。
从今往后姚族兄弟姐妹们弘扬祖德，凝聚族亲，扬我族威！衷心祝福姚氏宗亲千秋绵衍，万代炽昌！姚族子孙从今往后前程似锦！兴旺发达！

大姚村位于肇庆市高要区，距离活道镇政府约8公里在县道x431边。与新兴，高明三地郊界，约10几平方公里，人口约1800人，这里山清水秀，人杰地杰，四季分明，气候温和，人勤物丰，有出名的特产——姚村大米。

追根塑源，大明始遷祖乃南雄人也，始遷於增城、又遷於東管再遷於黄布深井各處有兄弟居住。 玉山公孺人麥氏 夫妻母子三人上肇庆慶城居住男永安 媳 梁氏由肇慶遷居新江劉村珠園鄉又由珠園鄉遷居大姚村，母子落業居住。 玉山公後遷往本邑雙板復娶継室落業居住，故大姚对即以永安公为始祖也。（选自姚氏族谱）。

大姚村古村布局为九纵十一横，中间一十字大巷，如中国橡棋棋盘布局，座北向南，纵、横排列整齐，每座古屋均为三间两廊式，砖、木、瓦结构，广东粤中地区的典型，最具独特建筑风格的明未清初建筑，最有代表价值的古建筑，有祠堂三座（一座己毁），碉楼一座，古屋过百间，姚氏，以玉山公为始祖，永安为二世祖，玉山公系洪武年间，约公元1368年，(姚氏族谱）遷来姚村定居，姚村姚氏从永安公开始一路走来，经历几百年的繁衍，时至今日以盛传了二十几代，子孙后代过千人。

姚氏宗祠，建筑面积约300多平方，座北向南，轴线对称前后三进每进三开间典型的宗族祠堂建筑，集中了广东民间建筑装饰艺术之大成，巧妙地运集了木雕，砖雕，石雕，灰塑，陶塑和彩绘等装饰艺术，题材广泛，造型生动，色彩丰富，技艺之精谌，是当年附近最有代性的一座民间装饰艺术的璀璨殿堂。

英客公祠始建于清乾隆1787年距今己有230（确切时间有待考证）年的历史，英客公祠占地300多平方，座北向南，前后三进一进三开间，与始祖玉山公祠对面而建，承传玉山公祠的建筑风格，建筑工艺与玉山公祠不相百仲，是我们姚族又一历史文物。

姚英客生于清康熙十一年，（公元1672壬子）年，（姚氏族谱记载），始祖姚玉山第九代传人，是当时姚氏家族中最为显赫的一位族人，系佢帝造了姚氏家族的历史辉煌。
